Who runs this, and why you should be sceptical
Top of Prompt is run by Sydney Digital Marketing, a Sydney agency working with service businesses since 2014, and the measurement is powered by the Visto platform. We also sell the programs that improve these scores, which is a conflict, so here's how we handle it.
What Top of Prompt is
Two things, and deliberately only two. A published method for measuring whether AI assistants recommend a business, and a public scoreboard that applies it to Australian categories. Everything commercial, the programs, the pricing, the case studies, sits with SDM rather than here, because a measurement standard that's also a sales page isn't much of a standard.
Disclosure policy
An agency publishing an index of the market it sells into has an obvious problem. We can't make that go away, so we've made it visible instead.
- 1Clients are marked. Any business in the TOP 100 that is an SDM client, or has been in the previous twelve months, carries a disclosure marker on the page.
- 2Scores are not for sale. No commercial relationship, current or hoped for, affects a measurement. Nobody can buy a place, a position or a removal of a competitor.
- 3The method comes first. Categories, prompts and engines are set before the measurement runs, not adjusted afterwards to produce a better looking result.
- 4We publish our own score too. Including the quarters it goes backwards, which is the only way any of the above is checkable.
- 5We publish clients who score badly. If a paying client sits last in their category, they sit last on the page. If we ever can't stomach that, we should stop publishing the index.
Corrections and right of reply
Tell us a published figure about your business is wrong and we'll re-run the measurement against the same prompt set, usually inside five working days. If the re-run disagrees with what we published, we correct the page and add a dated note saying what changed, because a silent edit is just a second mistake. If you'd prefer not to appear at all, say so and we'll remove you, with a note on the category that an exclusion has been applied.

The measurement runs on Visto, an AI search visibility platform. SDM was its first agency partner in Australia, which is how this exists at all, and it means the underlying data comes from a system built for the job rather than from someone pasting prompts into ChatGPT and keeping score in a spreadsheet.
